Established and launched in the year 1977 by Oak Industries is what is on TV. This was also known as the national subscription TV. This was introduced in the era when only catching signals duly enhancing with boosters was practiced to watch television. Since it is basically a subscription television and that too located with its head office in New York and rendering services only in the United States it is obvious that very few knew what is on TV.

This on TV was launched by Oak Industries peered by Norman Lear’s under an Enterprise. Basically Oak was into manufacturing the satellite dishes and other related equipment of required for satellite service such as the decoders etc. Though what is on TV is known to a very few, it captured the major share in Los Angeles, Chicago and other places in the United States of America.

There were many scrambled ultra high frequency services in those days and the prominent of them is what is on TV. Several movies, games and sports, all types of events and concerts in those days were used to be aired through the ultra high frequency bandwidth. Not only airing the mainstream movies but also the movies which were unique like the Z channel etc was also telecasted.

To watch the telecast of what is on TV, the subscribers of ON-TV used to be charged a service fee which depended on the market in that area. A subscriber of ON TV would need to follow two steps which are to be basically done for accessing the ON-TV programs, one of which is to pay for a monthly fee towards subscribing the service and the other is to receive and install a box which is a decoder that decodes a picture sent via air and then transmitted to be shown on TV.
